A Note from RVAA President: New Strides Forward for RVAA

RVAA is making new strides forward in early 2016.  First, we are welcoming a new Executive Director to our management team (see full article in this newsletter).  Jon Krueger has more than a decade of experience providing strategic leadership and day-to-day management for trade associations like RVAA.  He will be based in Atlanta, GA.  Please join me in welcoming Jon to the RVAA community!

Jon’s appointment comes at a great time, as the RVAA Board of Directors begins to execute our organization’s new strategic plan.  Developed to support our vision and mission, the high-level objectives in the strategic plan strive to add value to your membership.  We want RVAA to continue being an investment worth making for your company.

During the day-long planning session, the following objectives were developed and approved by the Board:

  • Add value by creating a consistent value proposition for RVAA which articulates the essence of the association
  • Achieve value in terms of providing a venue for our members to interact
  • Develop a technical and business management curriculum that educates RV dealer personnel on successful retailing
  • Develop and build partnerships with other RV associations to enhance RVAA’s advocacy program to broaden audience while also leveraging what other groups may offer

Moving forward, our strategic plan will serve as a roadmap for the Board, and all discussions, deliberations and decisions will align with it.

It’s an interesting time to be in the RV business.  The consolidation trend continues, and the Board is watching closely.  We’re also gearing up for the 2016 Executive Conference in Chicago this summer.  And I would be remiss if I didn’t offer a sincere “thank you” to Laura Hallen, who has worked as RVAA’s Member Services Manager since 2011.  Laura’s dedication and passion for RVAA made an impact on many members and led to a number of accomplishments for the organization.  Jon and his staff will be taking on Laura’s day-to-day responsibilities, while Laura is moving on to serve other non-profit organizations.

As your President, I’m always available to discuss anything related to RVAA or our industry.  Please feel free to contact me anytime.
